A Rare Piece of Zippo Sales History
In the early 1960s, Zippo ventured beyond lighters — and this Salesman Sample Zippo Rule is a surviving artifact from that era. Distributed to sales representatives to showcase Zippo's expanding product line.
Condition
- Rule: Excellent — the Etch & Paint design retains virtually all of its original paint with only very light handling marks
- Box lid: Shows natural discoloration and storage wear consistent with 60+ years of age — adds to the authenticity
Why It Matters to Collectors
Zippo memorabilia beyond lighters is a niche within a niche. Salesman samples in particular represent a snapshot of mid-century American manufacturing and sales culture — tools of the trade that rarely survived intact. This one did.
A conversation piece for the serious Zippo collector or mid-century Americana enthusiast.
